Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most common inherited disease causing premature death in Australia, Western Europe and the USA, with one in every 2,500 children being affected.
Our research team based at the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide has developed a potential cure for CF. Our approach uses gene transfer to replace the defective gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis.
The gene transfer technique has proven to be very successful in animal models and our team are now scaling up their research to larger animal models to more closely simulate human lungs.
